Steps
Becoming a Firewise Community is be a simple process that can enables communities to organize and build wildfire resiliency in their community. Explore the steps below more information. Organize your team
Form a team of 3 to 5 community leaders and designate a point of contact. Ensure you have 8+ homes interested in participating.

Apply
Work with our team coordinator
(contact: jojo@smmfsc.org) to finalize your application. Then, get approved!

Assess wildfire risk
Schedule a Firewise USA Community Risk Assessment with our team. Email jojo@smmfsc.org to learn more and schedule.

Record and report
Keep track of fuel reduction activities (examples outlined here) and report volunteer hours annually.

Create an action plan
Develop a 3-year Action Plan that outlines annual objectives along with measurable results, that the outcome levels advance each year.

Annual outreach event
Host an annual community outreach event to discuss projects and action plan items. Request support HERE.
