Zone Zero

Zone 0 refers to the that extends from 0 ft- 5 feet around your structure. California is currently working new regulatory guidelines regarding what is permitted within this zone. Check out the updated draft regulations HERE.

State Fire Marshal Approved Building Materials

The State Fire Marshal's Building Materials Listing Program (BML) includes various materials, such as roof coverings, wall assemblies, hardware, and more.  

Vent Retrofits

It is recommended to replace all foundation, attic, or soffit vents that have screening >1/8th inch. Options include: Wildfire Defense Mesh (DIY/inexpensive option) , Brandguard vents, Vulcan vents, etc.

Wildfire Learning Center

This site includes a demonstration structure and garden displaying proper home hardening and defensible space practices. There is a Native Plant Nursery, which provides free plants to residents.
