Home Ignition Zone Evaluation

Service Description

A home ignition zone evaluation is a review of the vulnerability of your house and landscape to wildfire and ember-ignition. The evaluation will be done by a trained SMMFSC staff member or volunteer. It will take 45 to 60 minutes to complete the evaluation. The HIZ will consist of a thorough walkthrough of the property exterior and the landscape. Recommendations will be spoken about in person and a comprehensive report will also be sent to homeowners within one week after the evaluation. The homeowner is under no obligation to complete any of the recommendations, though we will also follow up to find out if the homeowner has decided to complete any of the recommendations or any barriers that prevented them from doing so.
