Free programs offered by the Malibu Forestry Unit

Malibu Forestry Unit of the County of Los Angeles Fire Department serves members of the surrounding communities as an Urban Forestry Resource Center. Focused around wildfire preparedness, staff at Malibu Forestry Unit are able to assist the community, and it members, with educational programs aimed to equip residents with the knowledge and tools needed to improve readiness in the event of a wildfire. Community members are welcome to visit our facility located near Malibu Creek State Park or request an on-site consultation to address site specific needs/concerns.

Malibu Forestry Unit also operates a small nursery producing native tree and shrub species free to local residents. Species are selected and grown with consideration to erosion control, wildfire resistance, and wildlife habitat. Nursery stock is limited but the knowledge gained through the selection process with a County Forester will help guide property owners with their projects.
